About Phytandina

Science Born at the
Crossroads of Two Worlds

Two founders. One shared conviction: the most potent longevity molecules on Earth may have been growing in Ecuador for millennia, waiting to be understood.

Our Story

From Ecuador
to the World

Phytandina was born in Quito from a simple but radical question: why does the global longevity market utilizes synthetic molecules from world labs when Ecuador harbors a great quantity of bioactive compounds that nobody is exploring, we want to unlock our potential.

We mapped superfruits against the definitive scientific framework for aging, the 12 hallmarks described by López-Otín et al. in Cell (2023). What we found was striking: Piceatannol, Withanolides, Cathecuins, Epicathechins, Procyanidines don't address one mechanism of aging, they address many, simultaneously.

Our combined expertise spans biochemestry, food safety, legal strategy, bioeconomy governance, regulatory affairs, and biosecurity. That combination is not accidental — building a biotech ingredient company requires science, legal architecture, and strategic execution in equal measure.

🔬
Evidence First, Always

We do not make a commercial claim without scientific backing. Every molecule in our pipeline is mapped to peer-reviewed evidence.

🌿
Biodiversity as Innovation

Ecuador is a biodiversity hotspot. We treat endemic species as irreplaceable scientific assets worth protecting and valorizing.

⚖️
Equity Embedded in Structure

Our supply chain is designed to return value to our farming communities — not just to extract from them.

"To decode the longevity intelligence of Ecuador and translate it into globally validated biotech ingredients."

LL
Lucía López
Co-Founder · R&D Director & Scientific Strategy

A veterinarian with an MSc in Food Safety from Wageningen University & Research (Netherlands), Lucía brings expertise in supply chain risk, regulatory affairs, bioeconomic modelling, and biosecurity. Her MSc thesis built a deterministic bio-economic model for phytogenic feed additives, methodology she now applies to ecuadorian biomolecules.

International field experience spans France, the Netherlands, Brazil, and Ecuador, covering Novel Foods, Regulatory Affairs and Compliance.
